You may or may not know that I live in my parents house. They converted their very large garage into a beautiful apartment and moved over there to allow me and my family to move into the big house. We co-exist peacefully for the most part.

My dad surprised us yesterday with a very cool “present.” He built the boys a very large sandbox! It’s awesome. The boys are loving it.
It was pretty funny though because looking back, I can see where my dad has been scheming about this for a while. Like a few days ago, he mentioned that he was going to be building a box garden. No doubt, to have an excuse for the lumber and construction going on in the yard…that I never even noticed. So yesterday, when Mr. A. came to get me so I could go see “papa’s garden,” I didn’t think much of it.
I got to the bottom of our yard (it’s a big yard out back of the property) to see my dad and Mr. A. standing over what was clearly (to me) a very cool sandbox. I immediately said “Wow, look at that awesome sandbox that Papa built!” Mr. A. just looked confused. Then he said, “Papa told me it was a sand garden!” LOL! Kids are so gullible.
Anyhow, I was able to get some great shots of the boys playing in their new box. Maybe now they will quit digging holes in my front yard.

Eddie and the bonus monkey (should I call him “BM?” haha! Probably not)
Mr. A. Can you tell the overalls are backwards? Yeah that’s how he likes them. Weirdo.
The dirt baths ensue
My new favorite pictures of the twins. They hardly ever smile for me at the same time!
Me and Eddie. Pardon the bra strap. I’m so white trash.
And my final picture, my new prized possession….a very rare, pretty good shot of me and the twins. This like never happens. Thanks to my junior photog, Mr. A!

What an amazing sandbox for the three amigos!! I love it, and those pictures are awesome!!
That is beyond sweet and awesome! We were just thinking about doing this but I don’t have a clue on how to go about it.
Hi there, this is the first time I have seen your site. I also have 3 boys, twins that are now 4 and my 3rd boy is now 2 1/2 and have been searching for DIY sandbox/garden ideas. Good job on your dads part that was very sweet of him. I plan on building a large square/rectangle with half of it for the boys to play in the dirt and the other half our veg. garden. If all goes well the boys and I can garden and when they get tired of that they can play on their side of the box in the dirt. When they are all too big to play in the dirt then I will just convert the box into a larger garden…I am very excited, and just wanted to share my idea with you. Good luck with the twins, I adore mine and stay home full time with them. All the best and have a happy summer!
