I know, I’m late to this discussion. Twilight has been discussed to death (ha, I made a funny). But I only just got the movie for Easter and saw it for the first time this week. I had spent the past 3 weeks reading all four of the books. Big mistake! Never read the books first. Everyone knows that movie versions are never as good as the books. Boy was that true in this case.
I love vampire stories. I think they are sexy, romantic, forbidding. They are great for just losing yourself into something far far away from the realities of motherhood. These books were no exception. I liked them very much and read each one in a matter of days. Once I was finished with one, I couldn’t wait to get the next one. I would have read the series faster if I had bought all 4 books at the same time rather than individually.
But then I watched the movie. *UGH* It was terrible! And I don’t even mean the story. Because I love the story. But the acting was awful! Am I the only one that thought this? The guy they chose to play Edward…I hated him! He was NOT attractive and He was a terrible actor. The Edward in my imagination, the one from the book, was beautiful, smooth, charming. The Edward in the movie did not have the right voice. His moves were not fluid. It was agonizing watching the movie!
I do think they did a good job with Alice. But Rosalie was also awful. The book paints her as the most beautiful woman ever. The actress in the movie, in my opinion, was not attractive at all. *blah*
I guess I just think, that will all the Hollywood magic, they could have done a better job at making these characters real to the book. Or maybe I’ll just re-read the books so that I can get the awkward, unattractive Cullen images out of my head.

I AGREE!!! Rob Pattison (love him as Cedric!) was NOT EDWARD!! So dissapointing. Bella was ‘aight. Rosalie was buggin’ me! Her ROOTS!!! HELLO! Vampires don’t COLOR their hair!!! Loved Alice! Loved Emmet! Jacob was cute, we’ll see how he does as a real man… haha… The over all acting was bad. The Special effects were Bad. The lines were Bad. Except maybe one or two. Here’s hoping New Moon delivers! I should re read the books to get the actors out of my head… good call!
PS It is better the 2nd time.
I actually watched the movie first….not plan on reading the book.
I have been told the book is better!
