Fat Flinging Friday ~ Week 1

HELLO!  Welcome to my new weekly series called Fat Flinging Friday!  I’m doing this because I truly need help losing a lot of weight.  You can read a bit about my quest for weight loss surgery here and here.  But the skinny of it all (ha!) is that I need to stop sitting around waiting for surgery to happen.  I need to DO something!

So I’m blogging about it.  What I’m hoping to accomplish is getting a support group of sorts going.  They say the only way to be successful at losing weight and keeping it off is to have some accountability and support.

Accountability.  By knowing that I have to come in here on Friday’s and post if I ate well, exercised any and lost weight, maybe I’ll stick to my plans.  Pretty simple.

Support.  YOU!  I want you to be part of this.  I NEED you!

If you are a blogger then grab my Fat Flinging Friday button from the sidebar over there.  Create your post on your blog using my button and link to me.  Write your post any way you want.  Share how much weight you loss, share your weekly food diary, share your exercise routine.  Anything that is important to you in your quest to become healthy.  Then come post the direct link to your Fat Flinging Friday post in my Mr. Linky (if it’s working).  This way, visitors to the weekly post can visit the other participants and administer all the virtual hugs and high-fives that are needed.

If you are not a blogger…or if you just don’t want to publish your weight loss story to your own blog…then start the conversation in the comments.  You can click the button to be notified of new comments.  Check that box (or just promise to come back) so we can support each other here.

Simple?

I’m hoping to be able to line up a few product reviews or giveaways to go along with this.  But the main point is to be supportive of each other so that we can reach success!

For this first week, I want everyone to share their plan.  What are you going to do to lose weight and gain more health?

order_boxartFor me, I need to start exercising.  I need to get out of my comfy recliner and move my fat butt!  The folks at EA Active Sports have released a Wii game much like the Wii Fit (the Wii Fit’s first real competition!).  It’s designed to implement a training plan that is fun and easy to do in the comfort of your own home.  They were nice enough to send me a copy.  YAY!  So this week I will start using the EA Active Sports and join in on their 30 day challenge.  The official challenge starts on June 1st, but they have made it easy to start anytime.  It’s built into the game.  I have to say that I started my program yesterday, and today I can’t walk.  Easily.  I hurt.  But, I like it!  It means I’m using muscles that I haven’t used in a loooong time.

I’m really excited about this new journey.  I really feel that with a little help from my friends that I can be successful this time around.  I am determined!!  So please join with me.  Let’s make this fun and see what we can do together!!

    Joined and blogged, my friend!

  3. EA Active sports looks amazing. I really need to try that. I have some pounds I need to shed. I’ve started walking but I need to do more.

AJ, the EA Active Sports has been fun. But this fat butt was only able to do 1 1/2 workouts and now I am SO SORE! My legs and stomach hurt. Muscles that haven’t been used in a looong time. So we’ll see how it plays out. Thank GOD today is a rest day. I don’t think I could do another lunge if my life depended on it!

  4. Gini says:

    Sure, that’s fine with me!

  5. The EA Sports program looks cool! I think I need to look into this since I need to start getting in shape. I seriously can only walk a few flights of stairs without having to stop to catch my breath! Good luck on your fitness challenge!

Thanks Shari!! The EA game is fun, but hard (for me). Today I was sore. But I’m excited!!

  6. Katie says:

Hey peeps! I’m Katie and I have a separate blog just dedicated to weight-loss and healthy living. I’ll join in on Fridays to keep up my accountability. I’ve just started a challenge with a mommy group to break a bad habit and make a good habit. I hope these habits stick!

The EA Active Sports looks great! I’ll have to look into it! Right now, we’re using Tae Bo and Kid Fitness-they were the only dvds in the house. But I can feel them working.

Best of luck this week! I added my post in Mr Linky.

    • mommy23monkeys says:

YAY Staci! I posted a comment for you. I’m glad you are here to play. I hope we can really get something great and supportive going. :)

  8. Sheryl says:

Rhea, add me to your list. I’m not officially “blogging” anymore so I’ll just post comments. Dean bought the wii active today and I did my first workout tonight. I can’t say I ate all that well today, but I did exercise!

  9. Garilyn says:

I am in. I don’t have a blog, but I’ll post. I am doing T-tapp. Last week I didn’t get in any workouts, but this week WILL be different!!

Looking forward to seeing how everyone does.
