Throwback Thursday ~ Game On!

Well, since it wasn’t Monday, I couldn’t do a “Movie Time Monday” and well, I didn’t feel like waiting until it was Monday again to post this.  So you get to read “Throwback Thursday” because we got to watch a couple of fun DVD’s from the 80′s and I wanted to tell you about them.

mariomovieIf you know my boys at all, you know they are very obsessed with Mario Brothers.  They had a Mario Bros. birthday, they have Mario pajamas, Mario toys (except poor Luigi is missing his body).  No matter, they still love to play with them…body or no.  We also spend an unhealthy amount of time playing Super Mario games on the Wii.  So who was all excited as a school girl when I opened the circa 1980ish TV shows Super Mario Brothers Super Show!: Off The Map and Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog: Robots Attack!??

ME, that’s who!

sonicmovieThese arrived from NCircle Entertainment for my family to review.  I literally started laughing and smiling as I opened them.  I said to the boys “you’re never going to believe what came for you!”  I’m not kidding, the obsession with Mario and Sonic is very real!  We couldn’t wait to watch the first one.  Mario Brothers, of course.

You know something?  I had no idea that these cartoons even existed.  When I was a kid in the 80′s, I wasn’t into video games at all.  So I guess I missed these actually being on the air.  It was fun for me to watch these “old” animated cartoons.  “Real” cartoons…not like the digital stuff that is created today.  I even said to Bob, “these were actually on TV?”   But no matter, my boys were enthralled.  They even liked the weird first episode that was done all in 80′s Rap.  LOL

We have watched each of these video’s every day since they arrived.  If your kids like Mario Brothers or Sonic the Hedgehog, these will make fun editions for your rainy day DVD collection.  Heck, if you are my age you might just like these classic shows for yourself!  You can buy them online at NCircleEntertainment.com or Amazon.com (use the links above, will ya?).   You can get them at Toy’sRUs, too if you still prefer to shop brick and mortar stores.
