Why is my Pool Green?

greenpoolWell, I know why it’s green, I just don’t know what to do about it.

Doesn’t that look refreshing?

I guess it was about 3 weeks ago when we had our play set building party.  We had about 15 kids in and out of it all weekend.  They had a blast.  But the poor pool hasn’t ever recovered and I am getting frustrated.  Especially since we’ve had a week of 100 degree weather and swimming would have been a great thing to do.

Is algae safe to swim in?

eeewwwww…..

Anyhow, I spent $64 on this pool.  I proclaimed it to be the “best $64 ever spent!”  But then we needed a cover, chlorine, a net, shock, a chlorine dispenser, a vacuum…oh wait.  Take that back, returned the vacuum and got a big brush instead.  Anti-algae stuff, replacement filters.

You see where I am going right?  I have spent a fortune “maintaining” my pool and it’s STILL GREEN!

*ugh*

Bob went online to find out what was going on.  We added baking soda since that’s supposed to do something with the Ph (or was it the alkalinity?).  I don’t even know.  My head is spinning.

Pools are a pain in the ass.

I could have spent money on tickets to Knotts Soak City for what I spent on the pool and subsequent supplies.

Drain it and refill it. Its not that much water, just get it done before its winter. This time, keep chlorine in there and shock.

    Ew! lol

I know what you mean. It cost us like $300 a summer to maintain our pool. It is insane! Right now, we have frogs and tadpoles living in it, I didn’t have the money or time to keep it up. It’s a lot of work to keep up a pool!

  4. I used to have that version and now I have a bigger version LOL I had troubles with Green too. ULTRA SHOCK IT and keep that filter clean clean clean. Throw in a whole bag of shock with a fresh filter, keep it running all night and the next am Change the filter. If its still green throw in another bag of shock That night and keep it running all day long. You can get some algicide Can’t remember how much it says to throw in but if the shock doesn’t work that will. GOOD luck. We never even made it filling up our pool this yr only had 1 week over 100 degrees it was a low heat summer.

  5. Oh no! I would drain it, scrub it and refill it! I think my neighborhood pool does the shock thing though and it works!
