Myself, along with the Nation watched as this helium filled “flying saucer” sailed across the sky. The possibility that there was a little boy, about the same age as my Mr. A., was inside was just unbearable to me. I found the local Colorado news station that was streaming the live coverage and I sat glued to it.
I watched all morning. Crying and praying and worrying.
I posted on the live chat that was going on. People were saying it was a hoax and cracking “balloon boy” jokes. It pissed me off. There could be a little boy up there!! Didn’t you care? Heartless ass holes.
Then I was watching the live news conference. The spokesman guy got pulled away and a huge smile erupted on his face. He gave a thumbs up and said “He’s been found, he is okay!”
I balled like a baby.
I felt such relief and happiness. THANK GOD!
The only thing that mattered to me then was that a small boy was alive and well.
That doesn’t matter to me anymore.
Honestly, I am so angry at this stupid family. What a crock of shit.

Now every time I see this smug Richard Heene’s face I want to punch it! How could you do this? How could you do this to mothers and fathers everywhere? An entire Nation reached out to your family and your son, for nothing.

This makes me wonder where I have been because I didn’t kno wanyting about it. I think I saw something on twitter today about is the balloon boy real and I was thinking wasn’t that from the 1960′s? So this is what they were talking about.

OMG Cat I am so with you. I sat on my family room floor in tears as I watched the balloon land safely, just hoping he hadn’t fallen out. As did so many others. And to find out it was a scam? I am beyond furious and disgusted. There is a special place in hell for someone who will exploit their child like that.
Yes, I want to punch him too! It is sooo frustrating to have something like that happen and the nation be griped and it to be blah. Yeah, I’m mad too.

LOL I so agree. I tell you the whole 3 hours that I watched the updated news cast was so very scary then to find out he’s hiding in the garage that dad has some splanin to do. Send him up in the balloon I say.

I think they should be fined at the bare minimum. Somehow repay all the services that they used. Etc Etc….I would be soo pissed if I was dealing with this at work, while other true emergencies were going on.
I was lucky and missed all the stuff about this on the tv. My daughter was the one who first told me about this.
Yeah, kinda got sucked into this from the beginning and went through the same set of emotions as you: fear, terror, empathy, anxiousness, excitement, pissed off at those making cracks, then come the anger and rage at this family. To use their children and their family as a means to get a little more fame. Sad sad sad. I hope they get slapped with some hefty charges and disappear from the media’s eyes.
These people are starved for attention, money, fame, whatever. And people like that are sad, unhappy, and pitiable . They should be ashamed of whoring their kids out to the media, ashamed of tying up the time of officers, 911 personnel, etc. that have REAL jobs to do. They should be ashamed of teaching their kids to LIE, but they should be proud of their son for ratting them out! If some nut at a T.V. station somewhere ever gives them a show, I say we refuse to watch it so they will GO AWAY. Like Octomom, like Jon and Kate: stop watching, people, and they will go away
I agree with everyone that this father (if you can even call him that!) is a total wacko! He’s obviously in this for his 15 minutes of fame, esp since he and his family were already on “Wife Swap” a year ago. But the absolute worst part for me was watching this little boy throwing up in a bucket on TV while they kept doing live interviews on Good Morning America, etc. I mean, the little boy was throwing up in a freaking bucket and they still didn’t pause the interview to help him! Just grab a bucket and a rag – he’ll be ok! WTF??? Poor kid was probably so upset because he had to lie that he got sick to his stomach. Apparently the dad is a real loser toward his wife too. His friends told the press that he yells at his wife in public and basically treats her like dirt. I think he should get arrested for this stupid prank and while he’s sitting in jail, his wife should pack her and the kids stuff up and GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE!!!
It pisses me off too. This family is getting such publicity for endangering their kids and just being plain stupid. It kind of reminds me of the TSA blogger thing, they’ll do anything to get attention.
