I made it through one whole week of my No-Poo experiment. YAY me!
Honestly, it wasn’t that hard. My hair didn’t freak out. I don’t even think it got overly greasy. Now on Friday my mom did mention that my hair looked a little “nappy.”
Thanks, mom.
But I think it has a lot more to do with my horrible color right now than my actual non pooed hair. It needs a color job BAD.
Anyhow, the week went well. Two days I used a baking soda and apple cider vinegar rinse. Basically, 2 spoonful’s of baking soda in a coffee cup and then filled that with water. I just dumped it over my head and scrubbed the roots lightly. Did you know that baking soda is very salty? Yeah, I didn’t know that. Then, I did the same thing with the apple cider vinegar. 2 spoonful’s in a coffee cup topped off with some water. I dumped that on and actually left it on while I finished bathing.
Very simple.
Aside form the bad color (hopefully I can fix that this week so I don’t have to bore you with it anymore), I think my hair looks okay. Like I said, not overly greasy and not itchy either. It’s actually pretty soft since I haven’t been coating it with sticky gels. I am surprised at how easy it is to get a comb through since I could never comb it before without added conditioners.
So far so good! I’ll check back next week.

The picture above looks good to me, it must be working. Oh, and my mom used to brush her teeth with baking soda when I was a kid! She talked me into trying it and I almost lost my lunch – it was disgusting! LOL

If the picture above is a recent “no-poo” one, then I think your hair looks a lot better! Not that I think it look bad before! Its just that it looks really soft and the curls are laying nicely. Good luck with your experiment – but I already think it’s working really well!
I grew up brushing my teeth with Baking Soda and never had a cavity during that time. Then at 18 I started brushing my teeth with name brand toothpaste and guess what by the time I was 21 I had 7, yes 7 major, big cavities. Worse yet, all those cavities were between the teeth, so the Dentist had to actually work on two teeth to get to the stupid cavity location of one tooth. It costs be a bundle to have all those teeth fixed. He asked me what I had done, and I told him, and he said, “Maybe you should really think about going back to using the Baking Soda.” Well, I do use a name brand toothpaste, but now I always make sure it has baking soda in it. I think the baking soda helps to neutralize some of the acids that eat away at the tooth surface. I could be wrong, I’m not in the dental field.
I used the no poo for awhile, but I have baby fine hair and no problems with getting a comb through this very straight, fine texture it has. So, just for convenience sake I went back to store shampoo/conditioner. Guess, I’m lazy and don’t want to fix my own no poo paste or rinse, or the vinegar rinse either.
All this talk of no-poo makes me want to send you some laxatives
Just kidding–your hair looks waaay better than I would have expected, looks much softer.
