Welcome to my new digs! What do you think?

Delegate Robert G. Marshall is an Ass

RICHMOND – Western Prince William Del. Bob Marshall (R-13th) says disabled children are God’s punishment to women who have aborted their first pregnancy.

He made that statement last Thursday at a press conference to oppose state funding for Planned Parenthood.

“The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children,” said Marshall, a Republican.

“In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord. There’s a special punishment Christians would suggest.”

So, yeah.  You can click on the Gainsville Times link above to read the whole story.  Basically, this guy is out crusading against Planned Parenthood.  Ok.  I get that.  Whatever.  I’m not going to debate here whether abortion is okay or not.  It’s a deeply personal choice that only an individual woman can make.  My issue here is that this ASS thinks that children born with disabilities are a Punishment from God.

Are you freaking kidding me?

What Bible is this guy reading?  What passage is he twisting to fit this crack head agenda?

RIDICULOUS!

I have a nephew who is 12 years old and he was born with Cerebral Palsy.  He is a beautiful BLESSING.  Our lives would be incomplete without him, disability and all.  His mother never had an abortion either.  So what’s Delegate Marshall’s reasoning for this one?  You can not tell me for one second that his disability is any form of punishment from MY God.

Anyways, if you agree that this politician is a giant ASS HAT, then contact him and tell him so.

What representative Marshall doesn’t understand is that ignorance is forgiveable but stupidity isn’t. I think that this blatant ignorance should be rewarded with continued outrage and folks clamoring for his impeachment. I know stupidity isn’t impeachable but we should all make it clear his time in office is short at best and over as soon as we voters can remove him.

  2. Asshole.

MY God does not make children disabled as a punishment to their mothers.

I HATE people that use religion as justification to spew hate and twisted facts. I don’t have a religion. I have a FAITH and a WALK with God. Religion was created by man as a means to quiet and control the masses.

And asshats like this one do not have a faith or any real understanding of the Bible or our Lord, Jesus Christ.

    Hi,

Just found your blog. Delegate Marshall is my dad, and he obviously does not believe this at all. If the statement you made about children being punishments from God were true or intentional, trust me, we would be the first ones to get on him about it. Most people forget every politician has a family deeply involved, so here’s my story.

My family and I have literally been on the phone from 10am-10pm yesterday answering questions and clarifying the confusion as well as all day today so far. My dad did not say children with disabilities are a punishment from God, and no one has produced that quote. My own nephew passed away due to complications from Downs Syndrome, my brother who passed away took care of his best friend who had Muscular Dystrophy (spending nights, taking to movies, football games, bathroom, turning him in the middle of the night, etc.). He was the only Republican to go against his own party (3 years in a row) and demand a vote to give Insurance coverage to autistic children.

To say my dad believes that children with disabilities are a punishment from God is extremely hurtful, and the quote you mentioned above (which does not say he believes this) is taken completely out of context. If this were true, how could the Associated Press, Washington Post, Channel 6, CBN, and other news agencies who attended and reported the same press conference had missed this? Even the reporters we talked to who were there said this is taken out of context, which is why they didn’t report it.

Here is a radio interview in which he clarifies exactly what happened and what was said, and most importantly, what was not: http://delegatebob.com/news/bob-marshall-responds-on-630-wmal-interview

This is about someone putting words in my dad’s mouth which he did not say and does not believe. When someone says otherwise, we’re going to fight back.

I hope this illuminates the issue and puts the controversial article of my dad in a clearer context. Thank you for your time.

    • I would like to see a video or transcript of the conference/meeting to prove your father did not, in fact, say those vile things.

Does one exist or are we just supposed to take your word for it? Dame control and putting a different spin on it does not make what was reported as having been said right.

      There needs to be proof.

I went to the You Tube page and watched what watched and listened to what he said.
He said “Some Christians”, so I was wondering if he included himself in the some.
I do know that the Bible makes reference to Sins of the Fathers befalling the children for seven generations.
So there is some reference to parenteral decisions affecting families for up to seven generations later.
I’ve even heard on Christian TV programs where they call these generational curses.
So, I don’t believe God puts a punishment on the future generations to be born, rather the adults who made bad choices in the first place. I see this more in regards to parents who use drugs or alcohol and damage their own bodies in some way before a child is born and this in turn affects the outcome of a future pregnancy by toxins or something that may be transmitted to the baby.
I’m not sure, I’m no genetic specialist.
I do believe all children are blessings from God.
The statistics on the You Tube talk may be correct about the number of disablities experienced by children born of women who have had prior abortions, but no lump that information in with any Christians points of views seems to be unnecessary. Just let the facts speak for themselves without putting God into the equation.

“his is about someone putting words in my dad’s mouth which he did not say and does not believe. When someone says otherwise, we’re going to fight back.”

And so, you’re actually calling those who reported on it liars? He didn’t say those words? Is there a tape or video of the transcript?

And for the record, it was only first born sons they were referring to in the Old Testament. God didn’t much care what happened to women: they could be sold, given to their rapists, handed over to visitors to rape and dismember, used to incestuous relationships to satisfy those many urges men the family had. Does daddy adhere to all the teachings in the Old Testament, or just pick and choose what’s convenient?

After reading the part about disabled children, I don’t want to hear anymore about him.
