Wordless Wednesday – EEK!

Okay, I don’t generally “do” spiders.  They are creepy and disgusting.  But Anthony came running in the house yesterday for me to come see this “cool bug” that “isn’t a spider.”  I went out and took a look and then informed him that it quite certainly was a spider.  A very weird and neat looking spider.  One that I don’t think I have ever seen before (even though San Diego seems to be a common habitat for them).

It was also a very large spider…that’s DH’s finger in front of it!

Bob googled it and we determined it was a Green Lynx spider.  Non-venomous, but it has an extremely painful bite.  Nice.  I think I’ll just admire it in pictures.

I don’t do spiders either, but that one is pretty cool. I would probably be okay with stepping on that instead of a cold, squishy gecko too. Good find Anthony!

I have never seen a spider like that before, not even when I was living at home in Ramona and that was years ago. I hate spiders, but thank-you for sharing this interesting looking spider.
