Tuesday Toots – Resurrecting My Giveaway Linky!

It is really kind of funny to me, but I still get a fair amount of google searches looking for my long lost Tuesday Giveaway Linky.  So instead of fighting it, I decided to go with the flow and bring it back!  There was really no reason for it to go away, I was just lazy (story of my life sometimes).  And, since I don’t have as many of my own giveaways happening on a regular basis (they are a LOT of work) I figured a Tuesday linky would be nice for my readers who like to win stuff.

What My Friends are up To

Cheryl has lost her marbles (again) and is doing a 100 DAY MEME about movies.  Good grief.  100 days??  Anyhow, if you like movies, check it out and perhaps you can lose your marbles with her.

Kathleen is scouring Craigslist for Ugly For Sale Items and it’s HILARIOUS.  I can’t believe people try to sell this shit.

Heather is putting her daughter’s dolls on Death Row.  Please go save them.

Amanda is gearing up for the Fall and already talking about Halloween Costumes.  Ugh.

My friend, Lucy has new and exciting things coming as she just passed her Real Estate License exam! Go Lucy!  No links for her, she’s too busy being smart.

And if you missed it, I have a guest post up at my friend Gini’sblog.  Go me!  I feel like a real live blogger now.  Woot! (You know “woot” is now officially in the dictionary.  It was on the news last night).

On To The Giveaways!

Link up your giveaway posts only, NO HOME PAGES.  Direct URL to a giveaway post.  If you have 10 giveaways, feel free to link up 10 times (then go have a drink for I know you are exhausted).

Please link using this format:  NAME OF GIVEAWAY ITEM (PRIZE) / EXPIRATION DATE

Thanks!

NEW Skinny Cow Candy! {Review & Giveaway}

Let me tell you about a little adventure I went on today.  I knew I was going to be a part of a campaign to tell you about the NEW Skinny Cow Candy.  Well I had searched out where to buy Skinny Cow Candy and while several local places carry the Skinny Cow Ice Cream, there was not a single store listed in my po-dunk town for candy.  I was sad.  But my friend told me that her store wasn’t listed either yet they still had the candy.  This was great news to me and I set out on a mission with high hopes.

My little town has two major grocery stores, two drug stores and one “big box” store.  I went down one side of the street and back up the other.  I made it to the very last store that this product could possibly be at and did a little happy dance in the candy isle when I found several varieties staring down at me from the shelf.  I happily loaded up five boxes of candy into my cart and along with my husbands energy drink, headed to check out. Unfortunately for me, I had coupons for individual candies…not boxes of candy.

Note to self:  Read your coupons before loading up your cart.

Anyhow, the guy was so nice even though I’m sure I looked like a dork.  I asked if they sold the individual candies and he said “no.”  So I picked out two of the four varieties and decided to just buy them and go with it.  By this time, I really needed candy.

Moral of this story:  BUY THE CANDY.  Even without the proper coupon because it is SO VERY GOOD!

Unbelievably chocolatey. Melt-in-your-mouth madness. Perfectly yummy portions. Skinny’s new line of chocolate candy weighs in at 110 to 120 calories. So if you’ve been avoiding the candy aisle, welcome back. You’re gonna feel like a kid in a candy store.

Skinny Cow has now brought the same carefree indulgence to candy snacks just like it did with Skinny Cow ice cream we all  know and love.  I bought boxes of the Dreamy Clusters in Dark Chocolate and Heavenly Crisp in Peanut Butter.

I tried the Dreamy Clusters in Dark Chocolate.  Oh.My.Goodness.  These are so delicious.  Really.  They have a salty sweet taste and the crunchy chewy combination is really wonderful.  But with only 120 calories, you don’t have to feel all guilty after eating a pack (or even two!).  My husband LOVED these and stole the last pack out of my box.

MMmmmm…The Peanut Butter Heavenly Crisp.  What can I even say about this?  If you are a fan of peanut butter and chocolate candy then this is perfect for you.  They are a generous size candy bar with layered wafers and peanut butter creme enrobed in creamy milk chocolate.    One of these will totally satisfy your sweet tooth and only cost you 3 points!

Go get your own candy (because my husband ate all mine!)

To celebrate this brand NEW indulgence, Skinny Cow has many buy one-get one FREE specials running in your local stores.  While supplies last, check your local retailers for details.  (HINT:  Click the ad in my sidebar for your coupon!  ===> )

Skinny Cow Candy NOW available in your CANDY ISLE.

Oh Yeah Baby!  The lovely people at Skinny Cow want to give one lucky reader their very own box of Dreamy Clusters.

Let’s Tango With The Rango! {DVD Giveaway!} (CLOSED)

On Friday, July 15, 2011 “Rango” was released to the public on DVD and Blue-Ray.  Me and my mom took the boys to see Rango in theaters and they loved it so I was really excited to get my hands on the DVD!

If you have not already seen Rango, here is a peek:

Johnny Depp does such a great job as Rango, a captive lizard suddenly finding himself loose in the harsh desert.  As with all good kids movies, he quickly becomes the hero of a small, drought stricken town.  It’s funny and clever with “grown-up” tidbits thrown in for the parents.

My boys loved the crude belching fire scenes and all of the talking animals.  You do need to know that there are a few bad words, and the bad guy (the rotten Rattlesnake Jake) can seem pretty scary for real little or sensitive kidlets.  I really enjoyed the movie as did my dad who is a big fan of old westerns.

Rango Blue-Ray and DVD Release

Blu-ray:

• Theatrical and Extended Version

• Commentary—By director, story co-writer and producer Gore Verbinski, head of story James Ward Byrkit, production designer Mark “Crash” McCreery, animation director Hal Hickel and visual effects supervisor Tim Alexander (on Extended Version only)

• Breaking The Rules: Making Animation History— Discover how Gore Verbinski and Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) prepared for their first animated movie by following every step the filmmakers made to create this new kind of animated film. Watch as the renowned cast including Johnny Depp brings the film to life with “emotion capture.”

• Real Creatures of Dirt—In this fun and educational piece, animal experts talk about the real creatures that inspired the characters of RANGO and the filmmakers explain why they chose specific animals to reflect certain personality traits.

• Storyboard Reel Picture-In-Picture—Enhance your movie-viewing experience by watching the entire feature with picture-in-picture images of the storyboards (Theatrical Version only).

• A Field Trip to Dirt—Using the technology and footage from ILM’s special camera, viewers are put in control of their own tour of Dirt. They can select the streets they want to explore and the characters they’d like to interact with, discovering trivia and other bonus footage along the way.

• Ten Deleted Scenes—Including a never-before-seen alternate ending

• Theatrical Trailer

DVD:

The RANGO single-disc DVD is presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 TVs with Dolby Digital English 5.1 Surround, French 5.1 Surround, Spanish 5.1 Surround and English Audio Description and English, French and Spanish subtitles. The disc includes the following*:

The Adventures of Super Diaper Baby 2 {Giveaway!} (CLOSED)

It’s really a challenge for me to keep Anthony interested in reading.  It’s not fun for him, it’s just a chore.  I think it has a lot to do with his ADHD.  He will start reading something but lose interest quickly.  When I try to read to him, he is in a million places and never really listens to the story at all.

It’s very discouraging as a home-schooling mom.

But one young reader series (7+) has kept his attention, and that is Captain Underpants.

All of the boys have been fans of Captain Underpants for a while now and we own several of the books.  Even I chuckle when reading about his adventures as told through the eyes of George and Harold, a couple of young aspiring comic-book writers.  The books were always clever and amusing for Anthony and I.

Well, now George and Harold have created a new super-hero, Super Diaper Baby, much to their Principal’s dismay.

George and Harold are in big trouble again! Their mean principal, Mr. Krupp, has had it with their comic books. But the boys aren’t giving up, and they decide to create an all-new epic novel about a subject they’ve never tackled before!

Dr. Dilbert Dinkle started his career as an ordinary, everyday evil genius/inventor/bank robber. But when he awakens one day transformed into a walking, talking puddle of pee, he vows to destroy every toilet in town. Will the devious Dr. Dinkle and his conniving cat, Petey, ruin restrooms for the rest of us? Or could this be a job for the death-defying, dynamic duo of Super Diaper Baby and Diaper Dog?

Here are my 6 year old’s thoughts on the Super Diaper Baby 2 (his words, I only edited spelling and punctuation):

I love the book,  it is funny, cool and cute.  I love the end of it when it shows how to draw poop.  It is the best book ever, the end.

The only thing that annoys me about these books is the intentional misspellings, although, I completely understand why they are there.  They are written as if the kids wrote them…their words, their spelling.  But as a home school mom trying to teach spelling, it bothers my OCD side.  But if you can get over it, it adds to the charm and lends authenticity to these children stories.

The second book in the series is the Adventures of Super Diaper Baby 2:The Invasion of the Potty Snatchers and it was released to bookstores on June 28, 2011.  It is available at all major bookstores as well as Amazon and the Scholastic Store.  Lucky for you, I am giving a few away!  YAY!

Two lucky winners will receive both the Adventures of Super Diaper Baby 2: The Invasion of the Potty Snatchers along with the first in the series, Adventures of Super Diaper Baby.

First Mandatory Entry

Tell me about your favorite childhood story or book.  Mine was the classic Alice in Wonderland.  I don’t remember having funny books about underwear wearing superhero’s when I was a kid!  Darn shame, too.

50 Dangerous Things To Do This Summer {CLOSED}

When you’ve got boys, your life is full of adventure and sometimes even danger.  As a mom, I know we are usually trying to avoid the danger.  But, there are times when danger should be embraced.  Without danger, kids can not learn how to be careful or navigate risk.  As parents, we need to help our kids learn how to take risk, how to be successful and even how to be dangerous.  If we don’t, we will end up with another generation of sniveling, spoiled whiners.  Oh, did I say that out-loud?

The book 50 Dangerous Things (you should let your children do) is full of projects to help your kids explore their dangerous side over the summer.  I was SO excited to get this book!  Maybe even a little bit more excited than the boys (but don’t tell anyone).

This book is full of activities (deconstructing appliances), skills (tightrope walking), projects (melting glass) and experiences (tasting electricity) that will keep you busy all summer long.  I was surprised, yet pleased at how many things I’ve actually already let my kids do without thinking twice about it.

Licking a 9-volt Battery.  I caught Gabriel doing this the other day with no prompting from me.  He did it over and over and over again always jumping just a little at the jolt.  It was amusing to watch.

Master a Somersault.  Check.  I had no idea people thought this was dangerous?

Play With Dry Ice.  Boys LOVE dry ice.  Trust me.

Climb a Tree.  I think I found this the most amusing in the book.  Isn’t it kinda sad that in society today we have to remind parents to let their kids climb trees?  I remember sitting in our front yard tree for hours all summer long.

In the book, it will explain how to do the activity, what to expect and it will tell you what is dangerous about it.  The 50 Things range from simple and mundane (to me) to more dangerous things like playing with fire and smashing glass.

I love that the book lists ways to do the things safely.  Just because it’s fun to be dangerous, doesn’t mean us mom’s want to visit the emergency room.  The breaking glass activity has safety goggles, long -sleeved shirts and gloves as part of the required equipment.

The activity my six year old chose to do first was “Break the Recipe Rule Book.”  Basically, go into the kitchen and bake something without a recipe.  Anthony is my very own chef around here and he loves to cook.  He is with me all the time in the kitchen so this was a natural thing to want to try.

As hard as it was for me…I stayed out of it.  He went to work in the kitchen putting together ingredients to bake a cake.  Some of the measurements were off, some had me scratching my head, but overall…he did great!  I guess he paid attention to my past baking  because I’ll be darned if he didn’t end up with an edible chocolate cake!

The book has a page for Field Notes which is where we kept track of ingredients and baking times.

I was so proud, but more importantly, so was he!

By letting kids have the reigns to try things, even dangerous things, they build confidence and self esteem.  The 50 Dangerous Things (you should let your children do) helps you do just that.  I can’t wait to try more things with them!

50 Dangerous Things (you should let your children do) retails at about $18.00 and is available in most bookstores and online at Amazon.com.

Oh Rheally? is giving away TWO copies of 50 Dangerous Things (you should let your children do) today!  Isn’t that fun?
