What Does Your Pantry Look Like?

I can’t even believe I’m posting a picture of my messy pantry!  It started out somewhat organized.  I had can goods on one shelf, cereal somewhere else, baking supplies on top.  It was orderly and I could find things easily.  Food storage was a breeze and dinner time a snap when everything was in its place.

Now days?  Not so much.

I dig and dig and move things up and down and back around all trying to find something that likely ends up right in front of my face.  Or, I dig and dig looking for one specific thing only to find freeze dried food from 2008.  I was happy to find some pasta tonight for dinner only to see it expired last Christmas.

*sigh*

What’s a girl to do?

As much as I want to be and as hard as I try, I’m just not all that organized.  I have dreams of organized pantries all fancy and neat.  With baskets and containers and labels, oh my!

Something like this.

*swoon*

How do you keep your panty organized?

Happy Eleven Eleven Eleven!

Hello!  I don’t know if you’ve noticed…but today is November 11th, 2011.  Otherwise known as 11/11/11.  Did you make your wish at 11:11?  I did.  Sorta.  My wish was lame, nothing of epic proportions (although Anthony wished that his Zombie farm would come to life…so watch out for that).

I only wished for my children to have a happy life.

Lame, no?

Anyhow, if you frequent these parts you may have noticed a small pictorial countdown.  I knew I was coming up on post number 1111 and I thought it would be cool to coordinate it so that I would post that post ON 11/11/11.  Who knew it would be so complicated?!    I asked my friends to help me countdown and they came through with flying colors!  What I didn’t count on was that I would have SO many volunteers.  I ended up getting ahead of my countdown.  I approached my goal too quickly.  So I did what every blogger does…I deleted old stupid filler posts.  Then?  I got too far behind.  Figures.

Now, here I am on November 11th, 2011 and I am round about on posting number 1111.  It was a very exciting ride getting to this point!

I started my blog as mommy23monkeys in 2008.  Since that time I have learned a LOT.  I have met so many wonderful friends and blogging has opened so many doors.  Like many women, I change my mind often, and blogging has allowed me to change directions and redefine myself several times.  I consider myself the Queen of Random (maybe that should be my official tagline?).

The most important thing that has happened to me is YOU.  My readers have allowed me to share my life.  I honestly have no idea why anyone would keep coming back, but many of you do.  For that I am eternally grateful!  Thank you for reading and sharing in my boring life.

One One OOOHH Eight

I LOVE this picture!  And even more than that?  I LOVE Heather!  Heather is the talented voice behind Home to Heather and her creative writing is really beautiful to read.  But more than flowery words, she is a master at being a goober.

Wait?  Did I say “goober?”

*snort*

Goober.

Thank you, my friend, for helping me countdown to 1111 by 11/11/11.  I am so happy I know you!

For the Love of Pugs

I’ve been owned by two pugs in my life. The first was my Madeline who at three years old, suddenly and unexpectedly died. Madeline was pre-kids and I had never been heartbroken as much as I was with her death. I still have her ashes in my China cabinet.

My husband and I originally purchased Angus to be Madeline’s “boyfriend.”  She died before they were ever able to make cute little baby puglets, but Angus has been the best dog anyone could ask for.  Pug’s are naturally tolerant of children and wonderful family pets.

And because I’m obsessed with Pinterest…here is some more Pug love:

Bloggers Need Friends!

Once upon a time, there was a newbie blogger.  She was fumbling with her blog, trying to figure out how to make it work.  Wondering how to get visitors.  Scratching her head trying to figure out how to get on the “radar.”  For several months I be-bopped along, all by myself.  It was frustrating and discouraging and I felt like quitting.  A lot.

But, then, I found a community of other “mom bloggers.”

I made friends and I learned.  OH!  I learned SO much!  I’ve been with this fabulous community for a few years now and my blog has changed and grown so much in that time.  I will always be forever grateful for the knowledge that I received.

The most important piece of advice I garnered from this community of bloggers is that one should never underestimate themselves!

I have realized that I am smart and capable.  I know what I am doing and I do have something to offer others.

A year or so ago I formed an “alliance” with five other bloggers that I met in the larger community.  This small group is amazing.  Each lady is a little bit different, our niche’s are not identical.  We have been able to share and learn with each other in a much more intimate setting and we have become very close.  These five ladies are my best friends!

One day, we asked ourselves, “why can’t we market ourselves as a group?”  Companies and brands know that there is power in numbers, and together our numbers were impressive.  We knew that we could grow exponentially as a packaged deal and so, Eclectic Six Media was born.

Eclectic Six Media started out as a way to market ourselves as a group.  We wanted it to be a group blog of sorts and from there our ideas and ambitions just took off!  We ended up adding a blogger community forum so that we could offer to other bloggers a place to belong.  We wanted to offer to others a safe place for asking questions and learning.  We decided to build our own brand and community of bloggers and we will be working to bring opportunities to others as well.

The most important thing I’ve learned about this blogging business is that you really can not do this alone.  You need friends.

If you are a blogger, a newbie or a seasoned professional, I want to invite you to join our forums and check it out.  There is already a great group of people forming and I can’t wait to see what it develops into.  There will be a cash contest going live in November where forum members can win $100.00!  I know $100.00 goes a long way with the holidays coming!  Join the forums to hear about the details.

Also, please consider joining our Newletter or following us on Facebook and Twitter.   I am so excited about this new chapter in my bloggy career and I hope you decide to come with me!
