Let’s Start The Year With a Lulu Photobook Giveaway! (CLOSED)

I don’t know about you, but I love to sit with my boys and look at photo albums.  Just this past week we busted out the book of Anthony’s birth and looked through the pictures and took a walk down memory lane.  I also have a book that belonged to my grandmother and it has old pictures from her time as an Army nurse.  She has shots of Paris and Germany and they tell such a fabulous story.

An unfortunate side effect of the digital age is that all of our memories are being preserved on hard drives instead of in print books.  People don’t  just sit down with their kids and remember past family members and regale in their stories anymore.  With a  Photobook, you can still have your favorite pictures in print, while still saving their originals neatly in digital.

This is where Lulu.com comes in.

Lulu is actually a self publishing and book printing company that allows people to publish their work.  Everything from eBooks to Photobooks, Cookbooks to published Manuscripts.  Lulu does it all.  If you have ever wanted to be a published author, this is the website to make it happen.

I really wanted have a photobook of the boys’ past year to give my mom for Christmas.  Lulu did not disappoint!

The process of making my photobook was very easy.  I had full control over page layout, theme and text.  It took me about an hour to put together a beautiful 20 page book full of printed memories from the past year.  You can zoom in and out, adjust the layout, add pictures, remove pictures, all with a few clicks.  No program to download to your computer either, it’s all done online.

When the book came, there were a few blank pages in the front and back where I let each boy draw Grandma a picture.  This made the book even more memorable.  The book was just beautiful.  Well put together and my mom was thrilled!  She even took it to work to show off to all of her friends.

Now that the holidays are over, I am sure you have a gazillion pictures sitting on your hard drive now, too.  Wouldn’t you love to get some of them printed out to share?  Or maybe you are a photographer and would love to have a printed portfolio to show off to clients?  The possibilities are endless and I get to give a beautiful book to someone.

One lucky reader will get to create their own 20 page 8.5″ x 8.5″ hardcover photobook with Lulu.com!

Things Remembered Giveaway! (CLOSED)

I love Things Remembered.  I remember many years ago, my mom bought me a key chain there.  A beautiful sterling silver and purple butterfly with some dangle hearts on it.  It was engraved, “I Love You, Love Mom.”  It has been on my keys ever since and every time I use my keys I think of my mom.

Things Remembered is my go-to place for those hard to buy for people because I can always find something spectacular and have it personalized to boot.  Personalization just makes a gift that much more special, don’t you think?  I have several items of my own from there, some bracelets, key chain and necklace to name a few.  I’m never disappointed.

With the holidays quickly approaching, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the gift list. He wants a tech gift, she wants jewelry. Teens want something they can use on the go, while grandma is content with a gift to her favorite charity. With so many to buy for, all with different wants and needs, it’s no wonder the meaning behind gifts sometimes gets lost.

This holiday season, Things Remembered is reminding shoppers it doesn’t have to be that way. The leading personalized gift retailer has developed an array of engravable gifts for every personality, all with the ability to add a special message and create a holiday present that will be remembered long after the season comes to a close.

Things Remembered is offering one of my lucky readers their choice of one of the following personalized items!

  • Digital Photo Key Chain – In this digital age, the in-wallet photo sleeve has become obsolete. Now proud moms can show off the kids opening presents, their family vacation photos or any other favorites in 21st century style. The new digital photo key chain houses 100 photos that can be easily uploaded by plugging it into either a PC or a Mac with the included USB cord. The compact silver key chain is small enough to slip in a pocket or purse with a photo quality the recipient be impressed to show off. And the back can be engraved with a special message.
  • Engravable Playing Card Set Does he enjoy poker night with the guys? He’s going to love showing off these fun playing cards, which feature a reflective silver back. Two decks of cards come housed in an engravable silver carrying case to protect them while they’re not in play, just like the casino!
  • Butterfly Compact – The quintessential fashion accessory for girls of every age. She’ll look even more amazing when she pulls this stylish compact out of her purse. It features a whimsical butterfly design that shines with accented with crystals and comes in an elegant black tassel zippered pouch to protect from scratching. Inside are two mirrors—one with regular and one with double magnification. Engrave the compact with a personal message that speaks to the beauty you see within. Additional styles available.
  • Make-A-Wish Jewelry – Gifts that give back are twice as nice. This season, Things Remembered marks its 13-year sponsorship of the Make-A-Wish Foundation with a dozen exclusive personalized gifts that benefit the Foundation, including two new jewelry items. The Resilient Heart Necklace sparkles with the joy of the season and displays a crystal heart at the center of a textured pendant. Also available is the Radiant Star Bracelet that features a crystal-bordered star charm, multiple intertwined chains and toggle closure. Both can be engraved with a name, date or special wish, and $2 from each purchase is donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

How Do You Define Beauty?

Procter and Gamble is still offering you a $20.00 mail in rebate when you purchase $50.00 in P&G products at Sam’s Club.  This is a fabulous way to get some great holiday gifts for your family and friends and score a little reward for yourself.  This offer is good through January 31, 2011  (eek!  I wrote 2011 for the first time!), so you still have time to get your rebates in.

To go along with this great rebate offer, Procter & Gamble is looking for your definition of beauty.  Using the widget below (and look for it at the top of my sidebar over there ==>>), you can enter a short (less than 250 words) essay describing what you think beauty is.

P&G judges will then choose three winners to receive their own gift basket full of about $100 worth of health and beauty products!

This giveaway ends on December 22nd, click on the widget for all the rules and conditions.  Good luck, I hope one of my readers will win!

Let Sam’s Club Help You Trim Your Tree This Season!

OMGosh!  It’s ALMOST CHRISTMAS!

Yeah, I said it.  The “C” word.  I can’t believe how fast it’s come up.  It seems like it was just Valentine’s Day.   Where has the year gone?  This time next week we will all be in a turkey coma, (unless you are a crazy person out shopping the Black Friday deals like ME!), and the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season will be here.

I just LOVE Christmas!  I love the wonder, the excitement, the children’s eyes when they see Santa, the presents and the decorations.  I have boxes and boxes of decorations and a huge trunk is dedicated entirely to the Tree.

Sam’s Club wants you to know that they have everything you need to make a FABULOUS designer Christmas Tree.  And I can tell you….they certainly do!

I got to partake in a super fun Christmas Tree decorating contest with the other Sam’s Club community bloggers.  We were all assigned one of the designer trees and were instructed to go to our local club with the provided list of items needed, purchase the items and follow the easy instructions to end up with a beautiful tree.  One that Santa himself would be envious of!

Now, I was feeling a bit full of myself and decided to take on a unique design rather than follow the lists provided.  This was mostly because I am a brat and just HAD to have THREE of the adorable St. Jude Sock Monkeys and none of the designer trees came with three monkeys.  I mean, I’m the Mommy to three Monkeys…I NEED three monkeys!  Am I right?

Here is the fun, whimsical and child friendly tree I came up with.  Isn’t it fabulous??  I am in love with it.  Here is the list of things I used so you can recreate the look for yourself:

  • Three St. Jude Sock Monkeys in Blue (item #543205) A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this monkey goes directly to St. Jude.
  • Two packs of Holiday Candy Canes (item #644465)
  • 50 yards of holiday ribbon (item #868576)
  • One pack Decorative Tree Picks (item #635696)
  • One pack 107 count Shatterproof Trim Kit (item #580268)

I spent a total of only $111.42 for my complete designer look.

I just love how my tree turned out.  Now, I don’t get to keep this tree.  As much as I love it, it will be going to charity.  Which I think is super cool and am really happy about that.  But I’ve decided that I must go back to Sam’s Club to buy the Decorative Picks and three St. Jude Sock Monkeys to add to my personal collection.  They are just too much fun not to have my own!

Creating your own designer tree can be just as easy if you follow the list of instructions from Sam’s Club.  They make your holiday’s simple!

Vote for Me!

Sam’s Club will be putting all of the blogger tree’s up on their Sam’s Club Facebook Fan page where YOU will be invited to VOTE for your favorite (ME! ME! ME!).  Look under the “Trim your Tree” tab.  The blogger who gets the most votes will win $100!  If I won that, I could afford to buy more Sam’s Club decorations for my own tree.  YAY.

Do you have an “unfortunate” tree?  A “Charlie Brown” tree?  Something you wish was more fabulous?  I remember one Christmas where I was so poor, I decorated my ficus!  Now that was unfortunate.

Well, now Sam’s Club wants to help you out.  You can submit a picture of your most unfortunate Christmas tree and the person with the saddest tree will win a fabulous new designer tree, complete with all the decorations!  That is about a $300.00 worth of festive cheer!  No more unfortunate trees for you! YAY!

To Enter:

Sam’s Club Has An App For That

Apple® is coming to a Sam’s Club near you (iPhones, iPads and accessories!), and to celebrate Sam’s Club has developed the very first club store App.

Leading up to the busiest shopping season of the year, Sam’s Club enhances and simplifies the shopping experience as the first membership warehouse club to offer smart phone application technology. The newly launched Sam’s Club App can be downloaded for free from the iPhone App Store, Android Market and BlackBerry App World. The app includes exclusive features, such as access to product information, member reviews and eValues. The Sam’s Club App makes it simple and easy for members to interact with Sam’s Club and to make smart choices on products throughout the club and online.

I love my Sam’s Club Mobile App!

I’ve had this app on my iPhone since September.  I didn’t even realize it was “new.”  It’s such a great resource to have and allows users access to a ton of useful information.

  • Locate and get driving directions to their local Sam’s Club.
  • Get in-depth product details and reviews by using the built-in barcode scanner or searching the product catalog.
  • Plus Member’s can check their account to see their available eValues.
  • Check product availability and featured items by club.
  • Browse Samsclub.com for product selection.

I’m going to show you how you can use the mobile app to check the availability of products in your local store.

Step 1: Open your mobile app on your iPhone or other Smart Phone.  The first thing you will see is your “welcome page.”  To find out if a specific product is available in your local club, click on “Products.”

Step 2: Scroll through the available product categories to find what you need.  Remember last  month when I introduced you to Sophyto Skin Care?  Well, I just love the product and wanted to see if my store was one of the 150 clubs nationwide that carried the line.  I clicked on “Sophyto Skin Care.”

Step 3: Scroll through available products matching your search query.  Unfortunately for me, Sophyto is not sold in my local club, but by tapping the product name I can find more options, like “details,” “reviews,” “email,” and “view online.”  By tapping “view online” the app takes me to the Sam’s Club website where I can easily purchase the product for shipment.

By using the Sam’s Club Mobile App I was able to learn that my product was not going to be in the store and it saved me a drive into town where I would have been disappointed to find it unavailable.

Easy Peasy!

Now, I want you to download the FREE Sam’s Club app and check it out yourself.  By doing so, you will be entered to win this very cool iHome IP1C iPod/iPhone Studio Series Sound System!
