GIVEAWAY – Scholastic Christmastime Storybooks (CLOSED)

BookCovers_Christmas

My boys love to listen to me read stories, and this time of year, the holiday books are favorites.  Mr. A. is in kindergarten and is learning to read, so it’s especially fun to read with him since he thinks he knows all the words.  I am a huge sucker for Christmas and magic and Santa, and all that the holiday’s bring.  So when Scholastic Books offered me a couple of new Christmas reads, I accepted.

9780545037730_xlgThe first book I read to the boys was the E.T.A. Hoffmann classic The Nutcracker And The Mouse King.

On Christmas Eve, Godfather Drosselmeier has arrived with gifts of marvel and enchantment for his young godchildren. Goddaughter Marie falls in love a bewitching nutcracker doll and claims him as her own. Yet when the clock strikes midnight, something terribly amazing happens to Godfather’s handcrafted toys…they come alive. Marie is swept off her feet on an incredible journey with the Nutcracker in this astonishing classic story by E.T.A. Hoffman. Critically acclaimed artist Gail de Marcken’s stunning illustrations bring this spellbinding tale to life.

The Scholastic website says that this book is good for ages 4 and up, but it was a little long to hold my 5 year old’s attention.  But the pictures are gorgeous and the story is a classic and I’m sure as he get’s a little older it will become a favorite.

The Nutcracker And The Mouse King is currently on sale at Amazon.com for $12.91 (regular price is $18.99).

9780439774970_xlgThe next book we received is The Christmas Magic.

Far, far North, when the nights are longest and the stars shine brightest, Santa begins to prepare for his big night of giving. He gathers his reindeer, feeds them parsnips and berries, and polishes his bells and his sled. Then lovingly, he chooses toys for every child in the world. For Santa loves them all, and he knows what each child at heart wants most. Then, with the thrum of magic that makes reindeers fly, he spreads the Christmas joy and warmth throughout the world–as he always has — and always will until the end of time. From best-selling author Lauren Thomas, and Caldecott Honor Artist Jon J Muth

Scholastic recommends this book for children ages 4-8.  All three of my boys sat and listened intently.  It was a simple but magical book and Mr. A. has been talking all day about how “the Christmas magic” is coming.

The Christmas Magic is currently available at Amazon.com for $9.93 (regular price of $16.99).

GIVEAWAY ~ How Much Can You Save at a Sam's Club Store? (CLOSED)

savingsmadesimplelogoHey, guess what?  I’m back with more Sam’s Club news.  And with more Sam’s Club news comes more FREE MONEY.  I just love how Sam’s Club has made it possible for me to giveaway so much free money to my peeps.  Aren’t they swell?

Anyhow, Sam’s Club has launched a new website (image is clickable):

savingsmadesimple1

The purpose of the new website is to enable consumers to learn for themselves just how much money can be saved using a warehouse club store.  They even have the Coupon Mom herself, Stephanie Nelson sharing her tips on saving money with Sam’s Club.

Side note:  I used to be a member over at Coupon Mom and Stephanie always would preach buying household staples (meat, milk, cheese, etc) at the warehouse stores and she really knows what she’s talking about…so listen to her.

On the new Savings Made Simple website you can access a savings calculator.  Really quickly you can enter approximately what you spend per month on groceries for your family, and it will calculate how much you could SAVE shopping in bulk.  It told me I could save nearly $3000 a YEAR! That’s some serious savings!!  I was shocked.  Go see how much you could save, it’s kinda fun.

The site also has a savings forum so you can share ideas on how to stretch your dollars along with articles and the savings calculator.  I’ve been having fun playing on it today, it looks really useful.

giveaway titleI promised more free money, so here you have it!  I’ll be giving away another Sam’s Club Plus Membership card worth $100.  You can use this card to get a plus membership at Sam’s and get instant access to all the eValues and other warehouse benefits.  If you already have a membership, you can use the gift card to upgrade or just use the money to shop.

Mandatory Entry Requirement

Visit the Savings Made Simple website and try out their new Savings Calculator.  Figure out how much you could save by shopping at Sam’s then come back and let me know the number.  The calculator is really easy and kind of eye opening.

Tuesday Toots ~ Introducing the Sam's Club Bloggers!

STSBadgeThis weeks Tuesday Toots is a bit different.  Instead of sharing things that are going on around the blogosphere and “tooting” everyone else’s horn…I am tooting my own!

Sam’s Club has decided to branch into social media to spread their savings around and somehow, I was lucky to be chosen to participate in the new Sharing The Savings Blogging Community!

In case you don’t already know,  Sam’s Club is a division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.  The first store opened in 1983 in Oklahoma and today you can find their club stores Nation wide, as well as Brazil, China, Mexico and Puerto Rico.  Sam’s Club’s goal is to offer exceptional values to consumers and businesses.

It is with great honor and pleasure that I introduce you to the 15 bloggers that will be part of this program:

Tanya from Mommy Goggles
Cat from 3 Kids and Us
Trisha from MomDot
Kim from What’s That Smell?
Clarissa from The Diary of a Poshprenuer
Shynea from Penny Pinching Diva
Rhea from Mommy23Monkeys
Melissa from Outnumbered 3 to 1
Brandy from Not So Average Mama
Jacquie from Blessings Abound
Courtney & Adam from The Art of Being Mom and The Science of Being Dad
Stacie from The Divine Miss Mommy
Victoria from Life Starring the Kids & Me
Danielle from Haute Cowgirl

Honestly, I feel really special to be a part of this program.  I will be in good company with these bloggers and I can’t wait to get started by Sharing the Savings with you all!  The first way I will be sharing with you is by giving away TEN Sam’s Club Plus Memberships between now and the end of October!

That’s right ladies and gentlemen, TEN memberships, worth $100.00 each.  And these are Plus Memberships so you will be able to participate in Sam’s Club eValues Program.  I’m really excited about these giveaways and we will be having some fun with them.  I plan on playing some games (scavenger hunts) and rewarding subscribers (hint hint) and top commenters,  maybe I’ll do some live giveaways, too.  I’ll try to keep it entertaining and I’m so happy to be able to provide these memberships to my readers.  In fact, I would love some ideas from you.  What kind of games would you be willing to play for a $100 Sam’s Club Plus Membership?  We’ll have a new game every week, so I need ideas!

This weeks giveaway is already live, along with an introduction to the eValues Program.

So that’s what is going on in my neck of the woods.  I hope you like hearing about what Sam’s Club has to offer and I look forward to Sharing the Savings!

Tuesday Toots

greentootGood morning and happy Tuesday!!  I am actually going to be gone all day today.  I am having my first appointment with the fertility clinic to get started on my surrogacy cycle.  I am very excited!  But enough about that.  I have some things to Toot about.

My friend, Cat from 3 Kids and Us is on a mission to get to BlogHer 09 in Chicago.  Check out her plea and see if there is anything at all that you can do to help her out.  She NEEDS to go.  She is amazing and deserves this.  Any advertiser would be a fool not to sponsor her!

I have two yummy giveaways happening right now.  Take a look at my Keurig Giveaway, and then what goes better with coffee than cake?  I am giving away one of those, too.  So go take a looksie while you are here.

Your turn.  Link up your giveaways for all to see.  I look forward to checking them out when I get back from Orange County.  Have a great day!!
