Happy Halloween!!

So it’s the day after.  I’m pooped!  The boys were trick or treating fools last night but they were still up at the butt crack of dawn.  WTH?

Anyhow.  Mr. A’s Robot costume was a huge hit!  Everywhere we went people told us that his was the best costume in town!  I was so happy.  He was really cute.  Unfortunately, the costume was a bit heavy and it was pretty hot last night.  So after about 20 mins, he was tired and ready to take it off.  Nothing more pitiful than hearing a 4yo complain about his back hurting. :(   It’s really too bad we didn’t have a costume contest to attend, he totally could have won.

The brothers went as ghosts.  They were cute little costumes that I made myself with an oversized white t-shirt, some tuleing and white tights.  They got lots of compliments, too.  I think everyone is so used to the nylon store bought costumes that when a cute homemade one comes along, people are surprised.  Either way, lots of compliments for everyone and mommy was very proud of her efforts (and DH’s, too).

Of course, I have pictures:

I have a TON of pictures. LOL  The first one is Gabe. :)   I didn’t try the tuleing on before we got to the church.  So when I put it on, we discovered it was too long.  In order to keep them from tripping on it, I tied knots in the front and back.  Not quite ghostly, but better than scraped up faces from falling down.

Nate.  We tried tearing his tuleing to shorten it and all we did was rip it to heck.  He didn’t end up wearing his for long because it was too messed up.  Note to self:  Carry scissors in the diaper bag on Halloween.

Here is the both of them together

Our little Robot at the beginning….before he was pitiful

Ny nephew, the Fireman

My niece, the bee

My other niece was Hannah Montana

Some more…

Notice Gabe has that darn bear…LOL  mommy ended up carrying it most of the day.

Off we go!

I really liked this one of my niece.  She looks so sweet here. :)

Daddy and Eddie

Alright.  So this is how my poor sweet robot looked about about 20 mins.  I told you he was pitiful

This was an attempt at a group shot.  It’s missing two cousins though.  I don’t even know where the baby was and our other cousin came in late and the pics were not good.  This was half way decent though so I thought i would share.

This was taken at our party.  It’s my spider cake that I made.  I’ll be back later with step by step on how I put it together, as well as my other party food that we made.  But I wanted to put this here for my bug friends. ;)

Off to see why the boys are talking to their potty chairs.  Hope you liked the pics!  I had fun taking them.

Mr. A’s Robot Costume

Mr. A wanted to be a Robot for Halloween.  I went searching online and it didn’t look all that hard, so we decided to have a go at it.

We had a box of Costco Wipees and decided that it was the perfect size box to make a costume.  Then we just had a few other supplies to gather and we could begin.

Items we used to make this costume:  Kirkland brand wipees box, metallic silver spray paint, wire coat hangers, battery powered led lights, old computer parts, a few other gathered items from the old junk drawer, duct tape, hot glue and dryer tubing.

We started out by spray painting the box so it would go from this:

To this:

Some spare computer parts (can you tell we have small kids…look at all those scratches!!)

We taped the battery pack for the lights to the inside of the box.  We thought putting it in the center of the back would be the least obtrusive, but it ended up getting moved since we had too much stuff in the box when we were done and it needed rearranging.

Then I started putting the lights in place.  But it kept pissing me off and I had to pass it off to Bob.  LOL

This is where the hot glue gun was really helpful.  It secured all the gadgets and lights in the right place so that my 4yo wouldn’t mess them up.

Trying it on!

Doing the Robot dance.  LOL

Finished costume (minus his pants. LOL)

So there it is!  The box ended up being too small after all the stuff went inside, so we had to cut the sides in order to get it on.  And his arms are too big for the dryer hose, so the arms had to be jimmied as well.  But all in all, I think it turned out really great!  WTG Bob!
